What's New on Duck Pond Lane?

Aaron was recently transferred to Taylorsville High. He will miss Riverview Jr., but is really excited about his new assignment. Plus, his commute is even closer than before! He now walks to and from work. He still works for Veritas teaching GMAT prep courses at night too. He is halfway through the classes for his Doctoral program at the U in Organizational Behavior and Educational Leadership. He is really enjoying learning about how to employ best practices as a teacher.

Jennifer is super busy with the kids. Being at home with them is such a blessing. We have so much fun together! We recently took the kids to Southern California for their first trip to Disneyland. It was a blast! I still manage the Home Machine Quilting Show. It's growing by leaps and bounds. It's a great job, and I'm infinitely grateful to be able to work from home. The show grew by 25% again this year. It is so fun to use my PR skills and see something fun come out of it!

Michael - is now 5 1/2 years old, although he's tall enough for size 8 clothes. He is really funny, and loves to make us all giggle. He likes playing on the computer, he loves to read (his latest read is "The Lightning Thief"), he loves building with Legos, and using his imagination!

Emma - is now 4. She starts a ballet class in a few weeks! Wish her luck! She is all girl - she loves painted toenails, wearing skirts, and taking care of her dollies. She is also becoming quite the little cook. She is also really good at spelling things in her head, rhyming and writing words in her notebook.

Just Something About Aaron.

I know I need to update this blog badly!!! Maybe this fall it will make my short list of things to get done, after my quilt show sponsorships are filled and the catalog is off to the printer. But, I had to write a little something about Aaron. Friday we went over to the kids' new school, where we met both of their teachers. Michael's teacher and Emma's teacher both had kids who were 9th graders in Aaron's Riverview seminary class 4 years ago. Both of the teachers recognized our last name and said how much their kids loved Bro. Pond. Then, yesterday I was out on the playground with another mom. We talked about how both of our kindergarteners were in Mrs. Lightfoot's class. And I mentioned that we knew her son, Jackson. This mom also knew Jackson Lightfoot. Her daughter is a senior with this same group of kids. I asked if she went to Riverview and she said she had gone to Hillcrest Jr. Then she said that this group of seniors always talked about their seminary teacher, Bro. Pond, from Riverview, and how he changed their lives. She said, "Pond. That isn't your husband is it?" Yes, that's my husband, and I am the proudest woman alive. What kind of an impact does a teacher make who is still discussed 4 years later? What a great man I am blessed to be married to. And what a great work he is involved in. I love him so much, and he has all of my support and admiration.
